IDE Extension has disappeared from official VSCode Marketplace?

Hi, when following https://platformio.org/install/ide?install=vscode, the link https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=platformio.platformio-ide points to a missing page. Furthermore, using the Wayback Machine to find the extension id (last checkpoint 29th Dec 2024), ext install platformio.platformio-ide also doesn’t work. So… yeah where did it go?

EDIT: screenshot of the market page

How about installing the extension via VS Code?

Does this work for you?

Hi there, I’m also trying to install the extension on another laptop but it can’t be found on the extension tab as you suggest. Don’t know why…

Hi! You have already installed extension. I also can’t find it anymore via VSCode

When I opened different VSCode configuration files for testing, I also found that this extension disappeared. The configuration files that had it installed still exist. I haven’t tried removing it and restarting VSCode to see if I can find it again, but since the web version marketplace has also disappeared, it should be impossible to findQAQ

Yeah, i didn’t want to remove it. Thats the reason why i asked how it looks on your side

cc @ivankravets Can you tell us what happened to the PlatformIO extension?

It looks like the issue with Microsoft Marketplace. We have already reported them.

I also encountered this situation. I re-downloaded VSCode, but still couldn’t find it. Does this mean the platform doesn’t support it?

This is not about VS Code, it is about that the PlatformIO exstention is currently not listed in Marketplace. Therefore it can’t be installed right now.

You have to wait until this is solved.

In the mean time, I’ve cloned https://github.com/platformio/platformio-vscode-ide and ran npm run vscode:package to build the vsix and installed it. Extension itself is working fine. Maybe can add a workflow to include the vsix in the GitHub releases?

Greetings from the internet! I’m from the Apollo GraphQL engineering team and found this post via a search. We are also experiencing a similar issue with our VS Code extension. We’d love to share notes as we learn more. Here’s the initial user report:

And here’s an issue we opened on the vsmarketplace repo:

I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to add a comment and upvote the vsmarketplace issue so the VS Code team knows it’s affecting more than one extension. Hope we can get this resolved soon!

Here same problem, few hours ago I removed the extension because some problems uploading on a board and now I’m trying to install and no extension found. I hope they will fix asap…

The same, cannot find it in the marketplace

I was running around in circles trying to fix this in codespaces , Build the VSIX Package seems to do it thanks to copilot , might be someone needs to be replaced with AI

I’ve just opened an issue, please vote for it

Thanks from Brazil!!!

It appears it’s back for Windows but not for Linux/Mac, which I hope is still in the works!

At the moment I’m getting: “The ‘PlatformIO IDE’ extension is not available in Visual Studio Code for Linux 64 bit.”

Same here. Not available for Mac since Jan. 10th
