For those of us who want to use ARM/ARM64/AARCH64 for development with PlatformIO + VSCode (i.e. Raspberry Pi, Pinebook/Pinebook Pro, Jetson), it looks like life will get a bit better as ARM support is slated for 0.29 of the vscode-cpptools extension (due in July), meaning intellisense will probably work, and the
type message we get on startup will go away.
arm64 support is tagged for 0.30, so it looks like things are looking up arm/arm64 + VSCode + PlatformIO! 
If you want these features, it won’t hurt to thumb up the initial post in those issues, to better encourage the developers since they then know that there is plenty of interest.
