Pio run -e esp32s3_reversetft -t nobuild -t upload not working

Hello, I know this question has been asked before, but I cannot get this working.

I want to separate project build and upload. So I follow AI instructions to add to file settings.json

Toolbar button with nobuild option

pio run -e esp32s3_reversetft -t nobuild -t upload

However clicking the button gives the error:

“Invalid value for ‘ …’: Must be pairs of an address and the binary filename to write there”. Is there a way to get it working ?

I would strongly suggest that “upload without build” should be added to future pio versions. There are numerous situations when build succeeds, but upload fails

Do you have a minimal project that reproduces the error message you’re getting?

Just go to pio terminal, build any project, connect your ESP32 , and type the command:

pio run -e -t nobuild -t upload
