Delete the C++ Intellisense extension by austin, it is known to conflict with PlatformIO. Restart VSCode afterwards and do a Ctrl+Shift+P → Rebuild IntelliSense.

SOLVED: Ensure Intelli Sense Engine is enabled for Microsoft C/C++ extension, ie set it to default as in the attached image and it should work
