How to use the MPLAB plugin to import an existing MPLAB Harmony3 project (SAM C21) into PIO?

I copied the project to the PIO project folder and imported it as usual by opening the folder. It then downloaded and installed various things.
So far, so good. But when I start the MCC plugin, it doesn’t see that an MCC/Harmony config already exists and only offers me the option to generate a new one.

How do I get it to load the existing one?
I did the import from the project.X folder.

We have aboslutely no idea what the current problem with the PlatformIO project is if you don’t post it. You might get better help at whoever reated the “MCC plugin”.
