Arduino nano esp32 stuck in ROM bootloader mode

Hey everyone.
I was tinkering some stuff with a CC1101 and it kept getting stuck in this white LED mode. I somehow managed to take it out of it a few times (unreliably, the B1 to GND shorting method was only working once every three of four times).

-After uploading a new script, my esp just got stuck with the green LED constantly on. RST pin will not do anything, shorting B1 & GND and resetting will not do anything.

  • I erased flash and burned bootloader on the Arduino IDE program and I can upload sketches via “upload using programmer” but they won’t work as with the blink led base example.
  • Separately, my computer (Ubuntu 24) will detect the esp but i can’t upload anything via dfu or get the classic “dfu-util: No DFU capable USB device available
*** [upload] Error 74” error message.

I feel like I’ve soft-bricked the device somhow but i’m not really sure.

Thank you for your help

Have you tried the steps in section 14.5 of the ABX00083 manual?
(I have attached a screenshot for your reference.)
