I’m intrigued by the arcane and undeterred by the obscure. Learning binary arithmetic at the age of ten might have had something to do with that. This was my first computer in 1963: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digi-Comp_I

While studying computer science in college I grew increasingly bored and experienced steadily decreasing enthusiasm for programming until one day in 1981 when I decided to cut my COBOL class and visited the video arcade. While watching someone play Missile Command, I had the revelation that there was a computer inside the box, that it was software making the graphics and sound effects and reacting to the players’ joystick moves and button presses. In that moment I became a Programmer.

I would eventually write code for console video games (Atari 2600 & 7800, N.E.S. & Gameboy), various consumer electronics gadgets, and industrial control systems.

The interactive nature of the software I coded was the key element that inspired me and remains so to this day. My current interest is in developing generative music that is guided by human interaction; music that is both generative and responsive.

I’m interested to collaborate with artists and engineers. Reach out!
