PIO Remote Cloud dropping all connections since 2026-09-10 ~14:30 UTC (client + agent, valid account)

Since 2026-09-10 ~14:30 UTC every pio remote command and every pio remote agent start fails with a continuous

[warn] Connection is lost to PIO Remote Cloud. Reconnecting

on two independent machines and networks:

  • Agent: Linux ARM64 (Jetson), PlatformIO Core 6.1.19 under systemd, authenticated with PLATFORMIO_AUTH_TOKEN. Restarting the service does not help; the log never reaches “Successfully connected” / “Authenticating”.
  • Client: Windows 11, PlatformIO Core 6.1.19 (also tried while it was 6.2.0 on 2026-09-10 – same result). pio remote agent list, pio remote device list and pio remote run -t upload all fail the same way, and pio remote agent start on this machine fails identically.

What I verified on my side:

  • pio account show succeeds on both machines (Forever Free Remote Development package), so the account API and the credentials are fine.
  • openssl s_client -connect remote.platformio.org:4413 completes the TLS handshake (cert *.platformio.org, TLS 1.2 and 1.3) from the client network, so DNS, firewall and TLS are not the issue – the connection is accepted and then dropped at the protocol stage.
  • Nothing changed on our side between the last working session and the first failure.

Agent journal after a service restart:

Is there a service incident on the Remote Cloud? Happy to provide more diagnostics.

Thanks for the report. We’ve just fixed the issue.
