I just like to do a python project, no special device pure software.
New project wants a device mandatory. I just need the wonderfull code completion from the editor

Then PlatformIO isn’t involved in this at all, you shouldn’t go through the PlatformIO Home’s “New Project” wizard. Just create a new file with File → New File and get going.
