Is anybody here really good with ESP32 touch sensors?

One more idea. Have your tank some mount points? Place here piezo and measure presure or kg.

I like the acoustic idea, interesting. Way more than I want to do though. Currently, simplicity is the name of the game.

And weighing it via the mounting points isn’t feasible. I’m not sure how they have it mounted, but again, it’s accessibility. I’d have to tear the whole floor up instead of just drilling a hole.

Plus, I think the bath water would be pretty consistent, but the kitchen and ā€œblackā€ may vary too much depending on what goes in.

I’m just going to experiment with the esp32 capacitive sensors. It ā€œshouldā€ work. Maybe not the way they intended, or as simple as a touch pad. But I think it would be simple enough (ha! famous last words to live by! gonna be on my headstone! ā€œhold my beer, that’s simple enough!ā€)

Excellent! Thank you kind human. It’ll be a while before I can really get into it, but it looks like fun. Espessif had a little bit, but mostly ā€œtouch padā€ type sensors. I’m hoping the strip ideas from TI will work with the ESP32 chips.
