Just a guess but try right-clicking on the bottom bar and select the plug-in that you are using - it might have become unselected by accident.

Check in the PlatformIO preferences also Joe, there’s an option there to display the task bar under certain circumstances. One of which is “when there’s a platformio.ini file in the open folder”. Could it be that that file is not in the open folder/workspace?

Nothing worked, but uninstalling and reinstalling PlatformIO a few times seems to have worked.
